Christmas is here! That usually means I am in full baking mode and I am sure you are too. It’s our time to share the love and bake treats for friends and family. What I love about the holiday season is that it’s also a time of year when everyone is open to baking for the first time. So bake it forward my fellow bakers! Invite your friends over and bake together. Show them how easy and fun it can be.
When I moved to America, one of the first cookies I made was a classic chocolate chip cookie. It’s got to be the most American cookie after all. It was my first Christmas here and a friend at work had prepared layered cookie mixes in mason jars, along with mixing and baking instructions. Such a great idea!
Today’s project is my tribute to the classic cookie-mix-in-a-jar. A very easy to execute decorated cookie that will bring a smile to everyone’s face.
To shape the cookie base, I used a mason jar cutter. Ball jars are so popular that these cutters are pretty easy to find now. If you want to make these with your kids, here is your basic layout: cookies, royal icing, white sugar, mini M&M’s, mini chocolate chips and crushed graham crackers.
Feel free to mix it up and add crushed peppermint candy, nuts, mini Reese’s cups…basically anything you’d like to get on a cookie =)…
